Oak Tree Silhouettes

Oak trees at sunset. California. Summer 2015.

Home will always be California. When I’m home, I find myself going on long drives through the winding countryside, passing little ranches and main streets along the way. I look forward to the openness and the calm – a sharp contrast to the hectic city streets I find myself in daily. I love these vast, rolling hills dotted with oak trees.

After passing the same oaks regularly in my car, I finally pulled off the road one day at sunset and unloaded my camera and tripod. Home is not just a place, it’s the feeling when you’re there.

    • Thanks Debbie! I’m more likely to take photos of things new and unfamiliar, than the things at home that seem so familiar and routine. I think that’s something I’m going to work on this year 🙂

  1. This is nice – like the composition and backlighting and especially the way you distilled the description.
