I live 2600 miles (4200 km) from my grandmother, so sending her photos of my experiences and observations helps to bridge that large distance.
I recently shared a photo of the fall colors in my Washington, DC neighborhood, with which she responded:
The colors of the leaves with the sun shining through is so lovely and reassuring that nature’s a constant in our lives. The beauty is always there if we just stop all the unhappy and ugly thoughts of what people do daily to hurt all the good gifts nature has given us.
The leaves are gone now, and have been gone for a few weeks. But her perspective will stay with me (thanks Grandma).
